Dear Gaynor Family,

After much consideration with the Board of Trustees and Gaynor Gala Co-Chairs, I have made the truly difficult decision to cancel Gaynor Gala 2020. At this time, there are no plans to reschedule this event. I did not come to this decision lightly; the safety of our community is our highest priority. I am disappointed with this outcome, but I believe it is the right choice to make.

The Gala is our largest community fundraiser, and we rely on those funds to help support the strategic goals of the school. It is with this in mind that I hope you will allow us to use the total price of your ticket as a fully tax-deductible donation toward this year’s special initiative. In addition, please participate in the online auction and donation page which will be shared with you on Wednesday morning.

Several years ago, Yvette came to me with her dream of building a performing arts center where our students could truly shine. Over 58 years ago, my grandmother and Yvette created a school where the needs of the children always come first. Collectively, we wanted to complete the funding for the Performing Arts Center and surprise Yvette with announcing the soon-to-be named Yvette Siegel-Herzog Performing Arts Center.

While we will not be united in one room this Thursday, March 12, I believe that as a community we can still come together to make this dream a reality for Yvette. Our goal for this year’s Gala is to raise $1 million. The Gala Co-Chairs have been working tirelessly to create a robust auction to share with the community. Please be on the lookout for auction information to be sent out shortly. We also hope you will give as generously online as you were planning on doing in person on Thursday night.

Though we won’t be able to toast our glasses or hug long-time friends on Thursday, we do still have the opportunity to bid, donate and above all celebrate and honor the woman whose vision is the reason we are all part of the Gaynor family. Please click here to see why we love her so.

So cheers to Yvette — let’s make her proud!

Sincerely,
Dr. Scott Gaynor
